Reality and Locality. Does reality extend forever, or are local observations the only things that are real?

The laws of physics for general relativity are different from those for quantum mechanics.

The rules that govern everything larger than an atom (general relativity) don’t seem to work for the very small (sub-atomic particles). We know that sub-atomic particles exist but does general relativity exist to sub-atomic particles?

In affluent countries, we have homes and health care and don’t generally experience hunger, but in third-world countries, children have nothing and constantly experience hunger, pain, and disease. Because they have no understanding or concept of anything other than what is local to them, does anything else really exist?
