The universe is currently expanding and cooling. Will that keep happening forever?

We all know that time exists. We can see the sunset and sunrise. We all get older and eventually die. We remember events that happened in our past. We can measure it. But do we really know what time actually is?

When we think of alternate realities, we generally imagine some sort of wormhole or portal that we could step through into a completely new reality or universe.
